4 Tips to Confidently Market Your Woman-Owned Business
As a female entrepreneur, feeling confident about yourself and your business directly correlates with your ability to achieve your goals.
But having confidence in yourself and your business is a problem that many women-owned businesses struggle with everyday!
If youβre asking questions likeβ¦
How can I be a better business woman?
What are the best tips for marketing my woman owned business?
How can I feel more confident as a business owner?
This means youβre on track to building a better brand for yourself and growing a thriving career. In this post, I am going to help you answer these essential questions. But first, letβs get to the root of why so many women are feeling a lack of confidence in their business and their abilities as business owners.
Today, there is still gender discrimination when it comes to the workplace. Women earn 80 cents on the dollar compared to men. And only 30% of small businesses in the U.S. are owned by women.
So when you have the freedom that comes with the opportunity of owning your own business, you want to make the most of it, earn that full dollar amount, and inspire more women to become small business owners too.
But the trauma of discrimination when it comes to your financial worth can follow you into your new business, creating a lack of confidence in yourself as a new business owner.
This lack of confidence often shows up in two ways:
1. Imposter syndrome- feeling like youβre not worthy of running this business or being successful doing it.
2. The need to prove yourself- because youβve spent your whole life having to do so in the workplace- needing to prove that you can do your job just as well, or better, than your male colleagues.
You might also be feelingβ¦
like youβre not taken seriously as a business owner.
like youβre not βprofessionalβ enough to be an entrepreneur.
like youβre not worthy - of working with their dream clients, of charging what their services are worth, of achieving their goals.
What if you could just feel comfortable and confident doing what you love?
What if you could just be yourself when you wake up every morning? Never feeling like you have to be someone else to prove yourself, and knowing that youβre worthy of owning a thriving business? β¦and make money doing it?
You can do this. You just need to step into your role as a confident and badass female entrepreneur. And in this post, Iβm going to share with you four powerful marketing tips to help you do just that.

Know Your Audience
One of the best marketing tips you can get as a female entrepreneur is to know your audience, and know who you are marketing to.
Understanding your audience will help resolve problems like:
Feeling like you need to please everyone
Feeling like you have to pretend to be someone else in order to work with clients
Feeling like you have to do what everyone else is doing in order to be successful
The first step to understanding your audience is to define your dream clients.
Your dream clients are the lovely people who are literally a dream to work with. They inspire you, they make you excited to wake up and do your job each morning, and they value your services and want to pay your prices.
When you define your dream clients, you can start marketing to these specific people. Youβll have this person in mind when you write your blog, create your Instagram posts, and launch your new website. This means you can add really specific and personal touches to your copy, design, and marketing material that makes these people feel like you are speaking directly to them.
Once you know who your audience is and start marketing to your dream clients, youβll feel much more confident about how to attract the people you actually want to work with- and youβll be able to just be yourself while doing it!
2. Be Consistent
Being consistent in your marketing efforts will make you feel more confident about the way you are presenting yourself to your audience.
Youβll feel more confident about:
The way you show up on social media.
The way you present yourself on your website.
The message your are communicating both verbally and visually.
The key to great branding is consistency.
This is because being consistent in your offer, message, and design is what makes your brand both recognizable and memorable to your audience.
When you donβt understand who you are as a brand or who you are marketing to, your presentation of yourself will look unprofessional. And when you look unprofessional, youβre not going to feel worthy of attracting your dream clients and charging what you want for your services.
The first step to be more consistent in your marketing is to develop a strong brand strategy. A brand strategy involves defining what you offer, who your audience is, what your message is, your goals, and what makes your business unique. Then, design a brand that reflects these values.
Be sure that you carry out this brand strategy and your design elements through every touchpoint of your business marketing. This includes marketing material like your website, social media, business cards, merchandise, client workbooks and documents, signage, posters, and newsletters.
3. Ask For What You Want
One of the most challenging things for women in business is asking for what you want. Many people feel like asking for what you want can is demanding and pushyβ¦ but it shouldnβt feel this way!
Asking for what you want will help you feel more confident about:
Selling your offer.
Creating new offers for your audience.
Trying new marketing methods in your business.
The thing with marketing your business, is that if you donβt ask for what you want, your audience wonβt actually know what you want them to do!
Think about it. If you wait in line at your favorite coffee shop, get to the cashier to place your order, and she just stares at you blankly- youβll feel pretty awkward. You might even reconsider if you should even be ordering coffee in the first place. However, if your cashier asks what they can get for you- youβll have no problem placing your order.
The same goes for marketing your services. You have to tell your audience what you want from them in order to see your marketing convert. And the best way to do this is to make sure youβre using CTAs!
CTAs, or call to actions, are directives used in marketing that tell your audience what they should do next. Examples of CTAs are βBook Nowβ, βRead the Blogβ, βLearn Moreβ, or βShop Our Productsβ. You can use CTAs on your website, in your social media posts, in your blog posts, and in your newsletters.
CTAs are so effective that βEmails with a single call-to-action increased clicks 371% and sales 1617%β.
This is huge! Feel more confident about your selling abilities as a female entrepreneur by asking for what you want with the power of using simple CTAs in your marketing.
4. Invest in Yourself
Investing in yourself can be one of the most powerful marketing decisions you can make in your small business.
Investing in yourself will help you feel more confident about your business because:
Youβre investing in your positioning- so that you can look and feel like the expert you know you are.
Youβre investing in your time so that you can outsource tasks you donβt enjoy and focus more on doing the things that youβre good at (and feel confident doing!)
Youβre investing in building your business, so that you can see your growth and feel proud of how far youβve come.
When you invest in your business, you are doing so to get something back in return.
Investing in yourself can position you as an expert- and therefore give you the confidence to raise your prices and book higher ticket clients.
A few ways that you can invest in yourself to position you as an expert are through hiring a professional brand and web design, hiring a copywriter, booking a brand photoshoot, and investing in your education.
Investing in yourself also allows you to outsource tasks that you are less confident about, giving you more time to work on the things that truly inspire you and make you feel passionate about what you do.
A few ways to invest in yourself by outsourcing tasks are hiring a social media manager, hiring a virtual assistant, and working with a content creator.
When you invest in yourself, your audience can actually see this investment. They see the beautiful brand youβve built, the gorgeous website youβve launched, or the meticulously curated social media feed with the connection-driving copy. When they see that you care enough about yourself and your business to invest in it, you start to build a relationship of trust with your audience, because they will then trust that you will put the same care and investment into your services and working with them.
